Science – Foundation


Our Foundation students explored the many different types of weather then  identified the damage they can cause.

We ordered images into grids and wrote some new types of weather, such as rainbows and snow.

Grade 34 Science

This week Grade 34 sudents made helicopters with many different variables, we agreed to keep the mass under 35 grams.

We are working towards conducting fair Science tests.

Grade 5/6 Science

We have been exploring the way plants and animals have been adapting to their environment.

The panda bear has made two major adaptations due to changes in its habitat and diet, ask us about them!

Foundation Science

This term Foundation students are exploring animals, their habitat and diet.

Next week we will observe our weather and decide how it influences our decisions and behaviour.

Grade 1/2 Science

During Term 1 we will be exploring Physical Science, particularly the area of sound and light.

In our first lesson we were able to lift an ice cube by attaching a string using salt.

Water changes when we heat or cool it.

Science Grade 3/4

During Term 1 we will use Chemistry to develop our curiosity.

During weeks 3 and 4 students enhanced their questioning skills while exploring the school environs and researching the Leadbeater’s Possum.

Science Grades 5/6

Light is all around us.

The students in Grades 5/6 have been exploring the different types of magnetic rays, including visible light.

We have passed light through glass to refract it and observe the many colours on the light spectrum.

invetebratesWelcome to Science, Hawthorn West Primary style!

Grade 12 students are exploring different types of animals and deciding which are invertebrates.

We went on a school safari and found earthworms, ants, grubs and many more animals.
